Most problems are solved by updating your Web Browser to the latest verison.  iSpeakthat.com uses the very latest in web technology to bring you our language learning services.  Please use the following links to update your browser.

Internet Explorer

Mozilla FireFox

Safari (Not Recommended - FireFox is recommended for Apple users.)

Other Problems:

- This account is already logged in on another computer.

Per iSpeakthat.com's terms and conditions, only one user may use an account at any given time.  Basically that means if you want to sign up and share your password with all your friends, you guys will only be able to use the site one at a time.  So call up whoever is using your account, tell them to log out and try again. If that doesn't work, send us a message using our Comments & Requests page.

- I can not here any audio

  • Make sure your speakers are turned on.
  • Make sure your computer's volume is turned up.
  • iSpeakthat.com audio files require a Flash Media Player.  Almost all computers already have this media player.  If you do not, you web browser will automatically prompt you to download the player when you attemt to listen to an audio clip.  So go back to the phrasebook and try again.  This time, look for a small message box from your web browser.  Then just follow the instructions.  It should only take a few clicks and a few seconds.

- I have insufficient Language Lesson Credits

All users are given a fixed amount of language lesson credits depending on the type of subscription they purchase.  If you use all your language lesson credits before your account expires, you can purchase more by going to the Shopping Cart.

- I am logged in but some phrase audio links still say "Join"

Make sure you have subscribed to that particular language.  For example, if you subscribed to Spanish, you will not be able to listen to phrase audio in  the Italian phrasebook.

- Why are there no transliterations (a.k.a. Phonetic Spellings)?   Example:  Доброе утро = Dobre-OO-tra

Above is an example of a transliteration for the russian phrase "Good Morning".  To the left is the actual Russian text and to the Right is a transliteration using the English alphabet.  Our research has shown that transliterations actually slow down the language learning process.  The most effective way to learn a new language is to turn off everything you know about your native language and immerse yourself in the new language, alphabet and all.  This will help you read and write in your new language, which of course, is a major part of becoming fluent.  Using audio sound bites eliminates the need for transliterations because you can associate the proper sounds with the new alphabet by listening and reading along.

- Why are the lesson lengths slightly different between the website and by mp3 player?

Page lengths shown on the site are rounded off to the nearest second simply to reduce clutter.  When a lesson is downloaded to your computer or mp3 player, it reads the true file length (including all tenths of seconds we disregarded on the site).  So if you create a 2:00 language lesson on our site, the true size will actually be around 2:12.
